How to get the Egyptian Danza guitar tone

Al Di Meola

Not quite clean, not quite dirty. That edge-of-breakup thing is genuinely hard to dial in and Al Di Meola got it right. The mids are pushed forward, giving it that cutting, slightly nasal character — the note finds its own space in a mix. Layer in light chorus and hall reverb and the whole thing takes on a dimension you can't get from the amp alone.
