How to get the Race with Devil on Spanish Highway guitar tone

Not quite clean, not quite dirty. That edge-of-breakup thing is genuinely hard to dial in and Al Di Meola got it right. The mids are pushed forward, giving it that cutting, slightly nasal character — the note finds its own space in a mix.
